Jon finally finished their first summer project. The project in question: The G-DemMAIN infrastructure and application group project thing. The ApexMC server was taken down on the second, and backups were taken. Then on the third, the upload of the world was started, and data - like HisDoc - was migrated. Then, on the fourth, the server was released. Jon had people try to guess the ip. Kat got it within 20 minutes, but - about the prize for logging on first - said "double it and give it to the next" person.

Jules randomly rejoins out of no where. Ollie joined the discord but left again. But Jules stayed long enough to log on. Jack & Rock were also there.

While AJ and Jon were on a walk - discussing about fixing G-Dem's chunk-loading issue -, they got very side quested on moving G-Dem to a VPS. And so was born the concept of G-DemMAIN. After looking into it some more, the next day Jon got the server and started work.

AJ finished building the snow pyramid after 1084 days with help from Kat and Jon. This was done because when AJ built the snow pyramid on his test world, Juice said to build it on G-Dem, likely as a joke.

Since we have used automatic chunk-trimming of chunks that have only been inhabited for very short periods of time - in order to reduce world size and free up chunks for modern world-gen/features -, it was decided that if a chunk has not visibly been modified then we can use WorldEdit's chunk-reset command to get new generation (within reason). Well at least that's how I justified it to myself, idk how much Aj cared he just wanted a trial chamber that was not really far out innit.
G-Dem's Fifth Christmas2025-12-15
Today we celebrated the fifth Christmas on the G-Dem SMP. The annual tree was built by jon in the city - (194, 111, -184). The secret santa went like this: Jon -> AJ: A skibidi toilet bathroom re-enactment - (349, 61, -327). AJ -> Jon: A redstone torch named "Jon's cock extender" with some lore. Afterwards Jon sent a message in #announcements to thank everyone for coming - not that any others were invited in the first place :wink:.

HisDoc was updated to fix some security whole in some dependency. I also updated essentials while I was at it. I had to do a couple restarts 'cause the first version didn't work (no I didn't test it, bite me).

Jon dies and loses his trident and elytra at the end portal2025-02-24
Jon had just gone back to the end portal to start some more construction of it, but was distracted helping Kat and was hit by a zombie into lava, in the process losing an elytra and a trident. Kat gave Jon their spair trident which Jon then re-enchanted with mending, riptide and unbreaking. Jon already had a spare elytra called "Jon ate a few too many magic mushrooms".

Today we celebrated G-Dem's fourth Christmas with the annual secret Santa. Starting at 10:00, everyone in the secret Santa turned up to celebrate. First Jack gave us all access codes to something, then after the event they showed us the black market - which uses said codes to get in. To secret Santa was like this (and opened in this order): Aj -> Omega - A shulker of stuff. Jack -> Ultra - A shulker of stuff. Wonder -> Juice - A shulker of stuff. Ultra -> Jack - A shulker of stuff. Omega -> Rock - A shulker of stuff. Juice -> Jon - Armour sets, diamonds, totems, and some out-of-date ketchup. Jon -> AJ - Three spawn zones. Kat -> Wonder - A shulker of stuff. Rock -> Kat - A shulker of stuff.
McMMO is re-added2024-12-01
McMMO is finally re-added, but also with swords, axes, unarmed, maces, woodcutting, and crossbows, (and later in the day) archery, taming, and tridents removed (at the behest of the council). A few other plugins are also updated to their latest version. We switched from NoChatReports to FreedomChat too (probably what was causing the issue tbh). The server was temporarily updated to 1.21.3 but then was downgraded back to 1.21.1 as CoreProtect and dynmaps were not working.

Jon resumes work on his unfinished ocean base project, but now it will become G4 (briefly referred to as G5).
G3 - G-Dem's Third Birthday2024-10-27
G-Dem has its third birthday, this time hosted by Kat cause Jon didn't feel up to it and was lazy. Notably upgraded the server to 1.21.1 and removed MCMMO temporally because it was throwing errors. Core protect is also throwing errors but nothing can be done about that one. The events (planned and unplanned) included speeches, ultra singing, omegas fireworks, voting for the winner of the map art competion (Kat first winning a G-Block, followed by Aj, Jon then Ultra), and Jon's chairs flying. While waiting for the last minute construction of the fireworks to finish, we did both boat races (Jon winning their own boat race, and Ultra won Omega's race), took the subway, played Jack's gambling game, and had a court case about Ultra assaulting Rock. The event also showcased Jon's best newest lighting feature - scrolling lava text. (and also chairs on flying machines). Here is Kat's speech (which I guess has been amended to include things that changed): Opening Welcome to the third anniversary of G-Dem! Before we start, I’ll get some things out of the way. I’ve been a bad boy and to redeem myself I've put it upon myself this glorious purpose of hosting this event. Rules are as always - no attacking, killing or causing issues. This event is already special - it doesnt start off with Jon complimenting themselves in every way humanly possible - that’s why in this event we’ll go higher and better than ever. We aren’t small incompetent children anymore running this server - we are now incompetent nearly-adults running the server and this means that the idea of G-dem has not disappeared as it may seem - it simply has taken a different form. What do I mean by this nonsense? Well it means that we carry the ideas and ideals and experiences of G-dem elsewhere in life and that’s beautiful, BUT todays the day we all collectively are gathered here to bring it back to the server where it all started.
